HDB should be applauded for its measures to boost the supply of flats and help applicants, especially newlyweds, obtain homes. I hope the HDB will now focus on helping the older generation. The huge supply of new flats in recent years has helped meet demand but, coupled with the property cooling measures, affected resale flat prices. I am concerned as I will be retiring in the next few years. Many people of my generation will need to downgrade to smaller flats to fund their retirement. I fear the value of my flat will continue to decline and affect my retirement fund. Now that the demand for new flats from young couples has been met, it is time for the authorities to ease the housing loan curbs. This will help stem the decline in resale flat prices and shorten the time taken for a resale unit to find a buyer.... Continue Reading
