Many suggestions have been put forward following the announcement of the pending increase in water prices. The toilet auto-flush system in commercial buildings is a top water waster in my opinion, and should be discontinued. Able-bodied Singaporeans can use their hands to flush the toilet. In the building where I work, I notice that when a person uses the toilet, the auto system will flush at least two or three times. Multiply this by the number of people using the toilets each day, and the amount of water wasted is significant. If we are serious about saving this resource, the authorities should do something about it, and perhaps allow auto-flush only in toilets for the disabled.... Continue Reading
