The Singapore Sports Hub launched a unique sports, art and heritage walking trail on Sun, offering a journey through the landmarks near Kallang as well as the area’s colourful history. The three-kilometre walking trail seeks to tell the story of Kallang through 18 heritage markers, artefacts, architecture and new artworks sited around Singapore Sports Hub. The trail was launched by Baey Yam Keng, Senior Parliamentary Secretary of MCCY. He said, “There is a treasure trove of stories at Kallang. This was where many of our nation’s sporting memories were forged, and is also home to Singapore’s first civil intl airport.” The public can explore the 18 markers as one whole, or in three separate smaller walking trails – the Waterfront Trail, the Stadium Trail and the Park Trail. The trail launch also brought an old icon of the Kallang area: the two Merdeka Lions on Nicoll Highway’s Merdeka Bridge when it was built in 1955.
